Large VLDL Particles

Lipids marker

Large VLDL-P

Large VLDL Particles

Category: Lipids
Unit: nmol/L

Concentration of large VLDL particles. Elevated levels indicate triglyceride-rich lipoprotein overproduction and are strongly linked to insulin resistance.

PED Notes

GH use increases hepatic VLDL production, elevating large VLDL-P. Insulin use (common in advanced bodybuilding) and insulin resistance from GH compound this. High-calorie bulking diets (especially high-carb) drive VLDL production. Oral AAS affect hepatic lipid metabolism, contributing to VLDL elevation. Elevated large VLDL-P correlates strongly with the LP-IR score.

Supplements:

  • Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) -- 2-4g/day (most effective for reducing VLDL)
  • Berberine -- 500mg 2-3x/day before meals
  • Niacin -- 500-1000mg extended-release

Lifestyle:

  • Reduce refined carbohydrates and sugar
  • If on GH, consider dose reduction if persistently elevated
  • Regular fasted cardio may help reduce VLDL production
  • Fasted blood draw essential (12h minimum) for accurate reading
